About Me

Gretchen’s greatest strengths are her creativity, drive, and effectiveness. She thrives on challenges, particularly those that expand the company’s reach.

Recruited by new ownership, Gretchen was brought on by Steve Baldwin to lead all sales, marketing, and communications efforts in the rebuilding and rebranding of the Washington Spirit as the Chief Marketing Officer. Inheriting a 3 person staff with club revenues under $1,000,000 with low attendance, low media coverage, and minimal sponsorships; 2019 turned into a $2.5M revenue year with 5 sell outs, including a 19,000 Audi Field sell out, multiple, active sponsorships, positive community outreach and transparent press relations. Her role evolved into the Chief Revenue, then Chief Growth Officer. Surviving through COVID, the club executed $1.375M in sponsorships and is on track for a $3M+ sponsorship year in 2021. These efforts have also included introducing Steve Baldwin to various people of influence and including Devin Talbott and David Schwab. This resulted in Devin and Steve’s relationship turning into an investment and David Schwab pushing to get Steve onto the DC2026 Bid Host Committee. Creating connections that Steve can run with has always been a priority. Gretchen has served as an official voice to the press and media, including speaking on panels, podcasts, and interviews. Her external-facing relationships are one of the strongest points of impact for the company.

Throughout her time at Arlington Soccer Association, she led the efforts to increase brand awareness, share the #TeamArlington story, engage stakeholders, and improve communications. Although a small staff, she developed several long-standing partnerships which executed activation, co-branding efforts, and financial benefit. These included fundraising campaigns around financial aid, creating a successful Casino Night event that tied in community and parent participation, and an entirely new website, email system, and targeted program growth strategies.

Running Gretchen Hamm Consulting for several years, she provided consulting services to businesses and charities who wanted to take their company or organization to the next level. past clients include South Shore Select Soccer, Congressional Golf Shoot-Out at Congressional Country Club, No Greater Sacrifice Invitational at Merion Golf Club, The Chick Hernandez Celebrity Golf Tournament, Safe Places Golf Classic, Zero Out Prostate Cancer Golf Tournament, Habitat for Humanity Annual Tournament, Strelmark Consulting, Lake Anne Brew House, Jennifer Heffner Corporate Photography, The Popovich Financial Group, Wyndhorse Services, Klarity Skin Care and Tyson’s Playground/Perfect Performance. The services range from marketing and business strategy to specific social campaigns and graphics and targeted email marketing.

Connecting the dots to create win-win partnerships are her sweet spot, during her tenure with the Salute Military Golf Association, she brokered a deal with the PGA TOUR and Web.Com TOUR to bring Salute Military Golf Association’s brand in front of thousands in the DC market.

Also notable is her six years as Executive Director for The First Tee of Washington, D.C., where she directed major sponsorship and other partnering initiatives. A highly creative, mission-driven professional with over 20 years of development, marketing, and fundraising experience. Demonstrated commitment to organizational growth, and proven success in brand, revenue, and program growth. Exceptional networking and partnership-building skills, sound judgment, and strong initiative to successfully achieve program objectives.
